Ireland and Scotland go clear on
a wintry day in south-east Spain

It looks like an Ireland v Scotland fight for the PGAs of Europe international team championship at the Roda course, Murcia in south-east Spain.
At the halfway stage, the Irish lead at seven-under-par 281 by three strokes from the Scots from the Tartan Tour.
Sam Cairns from Colville Park had one of the best scores - a three-under-par 69 - on a very cold, windy even wintry day. He was backed up by Robert Arnott (Bishopbriggs) with a 71. That gave the Scots a second-round score of 140, which enabled them to shave a shot off Ireland's overnight lead.
Scotland's non-counting score under the best two from three format came from Gordon Law (Uphall).
Robert Giles with a 69 and Eamon Brady with a 72 were the Irish scores.
Scotland are nine strokes clear of the joint third-best Wales and Holland.
Ben Collier from Callander, the 1990 Scottish boys' match-play champion, had a one-under-par 71, to help Holland climb up into a share of third place.
Another Scot, Steven Hubner, is a member of the United Arab Emirates team.
