Logjam on four-under-par 67 in
EuroPro Tour event

PRESS RELEASE
Six players lead the way at four under in the Ivobank PGA EuroPro Tour’s Brooks Brothers Classic at Five Lakes Hotel, Country Club and Spa in Colchester.
Simon Thornton (Royal County Down GC) clearly has the bit between his teeth in Essex after his recent solid form. Starting on the tenth he birdied his first two holes and didn’t drop a shot all day before finishing with an eagle on nine to post 67.
Alistair Presnell started with a bogey but shook off that disappointment with four birdies on the front nine and another one on the back to card 67. Jamie Moul (Stoke by Nayland) had a similar round with just one bogey and five birdies and Robert Perrett (Clevedon GC) finished on the ninth with his fourth birdie and no dropped shots to shoot 67.
Matthew Ford (Marriott Tudor Park) picked up three birdies and one bogey on both front and back nines to shoot 67, a round matched by Jamie Elson (Forum Financial Associates) who had a run of four straight birdies from the seventh with another one at 15, dropping a shot at the twelfth to make it a group of six at four under one shot clear of a cluttered chasing pack.
Australian James McLean got off to a fantastic start with an eagle on the tenth and although he cancelled that out with bogeys at 12 and 13, he picked up three birdies on his way in to shoot 68. Ian Ellis (Weston Park GC) started on the back too and cancelled a birdie on ten out with a bogey on 11 to go into the front nine level – but he birdied the fourth, sixth and ninth to join McLean at three under along with Tom Haylock (HES), James Ruebotham (Welwyn Garden City GC), Chris Gaunt and Mark Henderson (Royal St David’s GC).
Michael Lavelle (The K Club) went out one under with a solitary birdie on the front nine but his back was much livelier. The Irishman birdied the tenth but then dropped shots at 12 and 13 to move level, before getting those shots back at 16 and 18 to shoot 69. He is joined by fellow countryman Alan Murray (Greystones GC) who recovered from a double bogey seven at the fifteenth to also post 69 as is Martin Le Mesurier (Vear Group) who struck four birdies and two bogeys in his round. John Parry is also on two under, while 15 players are at one under.
