ELLIOT SALTMAN JOINT FIFTH IN
PGA EUROPRO TOUR EVENT
Elliot Saltman headed the four Scots to survived the 36-hole cut in the Brooks Brothers Classic, this week's Ivobank PGA EuroPro Tour event at Five Lakes Golf & Country Club, Essex.
Saltman is in joint fifth place on four-under-par 138 with rounds of 70 and 68 over the par-71 lay-out. He had birdies at the third, fifth, ninth, 10th and 15th with bogeys at the first and 11th in halves of 34.
Aberdonian Neil Mitchell also made it, thanks to one of his better rounds on the circuit, a two-under-par 69 for joint ninth place on 140. Murcar Links man Mitchell birdied the fourth, seventh and 16th and had only one bogey, at the 11th, in halves of 34 and 34.
Former Scottish boys match-play champion Paul Doherty is sharing 16th place on 141 with scores of 68 and 73.
The only other Scot still standing is Graham Guthrie with 70 and 74 for 144 and joint 35th place.
Mark Henderson (147), Callum Nicoll (148), Graeme Brown (153) and Barry Hume (154) all failed to achieve the desired totals of 145 or better.
Former Scottish amateur champion Hume had a triple bogey 7 at the first and a double bogey 5 at the 17th in halves of 40 for a second-round 80.
Mark Kerr, well enough placed after a first-round 73, retired from the tournament on the second day. No explanation was readily available.
