STEVEN LAM THREE SHOTS AHEAD WITH NINE

HOLES TO PLAY IN VERY WINDY CONDITIONS

The strongest wind of the week was making life very difficult for the Gold Category competitors in the final round of the R&A Junior Open at Hesketh Golf Club.
Hong Kong’s Steven Lam, who started the day at two-over-par with a pair of 73s for the first two rounds, dropped three shots to be five over par for the tournament at the turn.
But he had still managed to extend his lead over American 14-year-old Jordan Spieth to three shots. Jordan was eight over par overall at the end of the wind-tossed outward half today.
Miss Moriya Jutanugarn, a 13-year-old from Thailand, was sharing third place on 10 over par with Scotland’s Paul McPhee from Perth and Frederik Hammer (Denmark).

Later positions after 11 holes:
Lam +6.
Spieth +9
Hammer +10
Jutanugarn +10
