Macaulay comes storming

through with a 64 to win

Tennant Cup by four

Callum Macaulay claimed his first Scottish Golf Union Order of Merit tournament title of the season when he landed the Tennant Cup over Glasgow Golf Club's Killermont course this evening.

The 24-year-old from Tulliallan, picture left by Cal Carson Golf Agency (all rights reserved), who topped the SGU's rankings in 2007, reeled off closing day rounds of 67 and 64 for a 10-under aggregate of 272 and a four-shot win over Gavin Dear of Murrayshall, Colville Park's Ross Kellett and Caprington's Steven McEwan who had been the halfway leader after the Saturday rounds at Glasgow Gailes.
McEwan, who was also runner-up in the Glasgow club's Edward Trophy earlier this year, still led the field by three shots with a round to go but his challenge ended with a two-over 72 as Macaulay came charging to the top with a six-under finish.

Keir McNicoll, the St Andrews Links Trophy winner a fortnight ago, shared fifth place with former Amateur champion Craig Watson on 277 while title-holder Wallace Booth, the newly crowned Scottish stroke-play champion, had to settle for seventh place on 280 after a 65 and a 68.
