BEAT CUT IN GATEWAY
TOUR EVENT
Jimmy Gunn from Dornoch had only one birdie in an opening round of five-over-par 72 in the Gateway Tour Summer Series event at McCormick Ranch Golf Club (Wed, USA time).
In an outward four-over 40, Jimmy bogeyed the first, third, short fifth, long seventh and short eighth. After the turn he steadied up to have eight pars and a bogey at the short 13th. His birdie came at the long fourth.
Gunn, pictured right, was lying joint 77th as he tried to improve on a record which has seen him miss seven cuts in 15 Gateway Tour competitions since early Januiary. He has earned only $10,176.
He now has a sponsor in the United States which will help him with the considerable costs of playing on a satellite tour over there.
