ST ANDREWS LINKS TROPHY ATTRACTS
TOP-CLASS ENTRY FOR JUNE 6 to 8

The St Andrews Links Trophy, which this year will be played over the Old Course and the Jubilee Course, has attracted one of the strongest fields in its 20-year history.
A total of 144 players with handicaps ranging from +6 to +2.3 will compete over two of the world’s best known links courses from Friday to Sunday, June 6 to 8 in an attempt to add their names to the list of distinguished winners of this prestigious stroke play competition.
In addition to world amateur No 1, Daniel Willet, and a large number of his English countrymen, almost half of the field will come from overseas. France has the largest number of foreign players with 13 but they are closely followed by the Netherlands with nine, South Africa with eight and seven from the United States.
To date, the only overseas winner has been Stuart Bouvier who was successful 12 months after Russell Claydon won the inaugural event in 1989.
One of the most interesting aspects of this year’s event will be determining whether an overseas player can end the 20-year dominance of the home nations.
The 144 players play one round on the Jubilee Course on June 6, one on the Old Course on the Saturday and the top 40 and ties play a further 36 holes over the Old Course on the Sunday.
