GORDON ON FORM AT NORTHAMPTON

 

Aberdeen's Graham Gordon showed a welcome return to form to be lying joint third at the end of the first day in the PGA EuroPro Tour event at Collingtree Park, Northampton.

Gordon, a former Scottish amateur champion, had seven birdies in all in scoring a four-under-par 68 – at the first, fourth, 11^th, 14^th, 15^th, 16^th and 18^th. Bogeys at the third, fifth and 17^th kept him from joining Irishman Noel Fox and John Bandurak from Bloxwich in a share of the lead on five-under-par 67.

Elliot Saltman and Paul Doherty were bracketed in 19^th place on 71.

Graham Brown and Lorne Kelly were sharing 41^st place on 73 while Jack Doherty and Mark Kerr were on the 74 mark.

Steven Mackie had a 78.
