FIRST WIN ON US COLLEGE CIRCUIT
William Bremner from Edzell, a first-year student at John A Logan College, Illinois, scored his first win on the US men's college circuit - in his college's only Spring Invitational tournament.
William, pictured above, beaten finalist in last year's Scottish boys' match-play championship, strung together rounds of 71 and 73 for a par-matching 36-hole total of 144 in very difficult conditions.
He won by two shots from team-mate Patrick Scheil who had rounds of 73 75.
The tournament had a field of 60 players and was held at Kokopelli Golf Club, Marion.
John A Logan (610) won the team title by five shots from runners-up South Mountain from Phoenix, Arizona.
John A Logan college head golf college Tom Ferris commented:
"William Bremner's even par total for two rounds was an outstanding performance in extremely diffiult conditions. We layed the course from the 7,200yd markers but, because of the strong winds and rainy conditions, it played more like 7,500yd.
"Patrick Scheil, whom William beat into second place, is currently ranked No 1 in our division."
