R&A Press Release

WORLD NO 1 RICKIE FOWLER COMING OVER
TO PLAY IN AMATEUR AT TURNBERRY

The world's top-ranked amateur, Rickie Fowler of the United States, has submitted an entry for this year's Amateur Championship to be played at Turnberry from June 16-21.
A key member of the US Walker Cup team that retained the trophy at Royal County Down last year, he has been the No 1 ranked player in The R&A World Amateur Golf Ranking for 23 weeks.
He scored three points out of four in the Walker Cup match, losing only in the final singles series to Rhys Davies of Wales by 3 and 2.
Fowler is a first year student at Oklahoma State University and last year he was 24 under par for 72 holes in winning the US Players Amateur at Bluffton, South Carolina.
He took over the lead in the World Ranking from his Walker Cup team-mate Colt Knost who joined the pro ranks after becoming the inaugural winner of the Mark H McCormack Medal as leading amateur.
