LEE LEADS BY NINE STROKES
AT LAKE MACQUARIE
New Zealander Danny Lee, 14th in the R&A World Amateur Golf Rankings, has left the field trailing in his wake after three rounds of the Lake Macquarie amateur tournament at Belmont Golf Club, Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia.
Lee has shot 66, 67 and 66 for a 17-under-par total of 199 and leads by NINE strokes from Australian Scott Arnol
Matthew Cryer from England maintained is position as the leading UK player with a 71 for one-under 215 and a share of 25th place.
Gary Wolstenholme had a 71 for 216 and joint 31st place.
Ross Kellett (Colville Park) had a 74 for 221 and joint 60th place.
Former British amateur champion Craig Watson (East Renfrewshire), who started this tournament quite well with a 71 has slumped to subsequent rounds of 76 and 75 for a share of 67th place on 222.
Former Scottish boys' stroke-play champion Shaun McAllister (Craigielaw) technically missed the halfway cut at 149 or better after rounds of 79 and 73 for 152. But, as an international player, he was allowed to continue the tournament and had a third-r0und 77 for 229.
