LLOYD SALTMAN NOT ONE OF
THE FIVE SCOTS TO QUALIFY
FOR FINAL Q SCHOOL

There were five Scots among the total of 74 players who qualified from the four-round European Tour Qualifying School Stage 2 events at four venues in Spain for next week's Final Q School over the San Roque courses at the southern tip of the Costa del Sol.
They were Craig Lee (Stirling), pictured right, Graham Fox (West Kilbride), David Drysdale, Jason McCreadie (Buchanan Castle) and Euan Little (Portpatrick).
The Stage 2 qualifiers will join 82 exempt players to make up a field of 156 for the Final Q School over six nail-biting rounds from November 15 to 20. Only the top 30 and ties will make it to the Big League from there.
No Lloyd Saltman in that list - which is a major setback to the hopes the Walker Cup player from Craigielaw must have had about joining his GB&I team-mate Rory McIlroy on the European Tour next season.
Welshman Sion E Bebb led the qualifiers from the Sherry Golf venue with a final round 73 for an 12-under-par total of 276. Euan Little scraped through in 18th place on 286 with rounds of 75, 68 70 and 73.
Scots who did not make it at this venue were the Doherty brothers, Jack (291) and Paul (297) and Scott Henderson 9294).
At Costa Ballena, Adam Bland from Australia topped the list of successful qualifiers with a final round of 68 for a 17-under-par total of 271. Twenty players made it through to the Final Stage. They included Scots Craig Lee and Graham Fox. Lee had two great last rounds of 67 and 65 to see him qualify in fourth place on 276. Fox qualified in joint 13th place after closing with a pair of 70s for 281.
Walker Cup player and outstanding US college circuit player Rhys Davies (284) failed by two shots; Duncan Stewart from Grantown on Spey missed out with 286, one shot less than Graeme Brown and Edward Thomson.
Lloyd Saltman's eldest brother, Elliot, failed on 292, the same total as Welsh-born Gareth Wright who is based at West Linton.
At Arcos Gardens, it was Birgir Hafthorsson who finished in pole position as he led the 19 qualifiers with a final round of 69 for a winning total. Lloyd Saltman had rounds of 72 74 69 and 73 for 288 - three strokes too many at this venue.
PGA Catalunya saw Gabriel Canizares finish top of the 17 qualifiers now heading to San Roque after he shot a final round of 65 for an 12-under-par total of 276. Scots David Drysdale and Jason McCreadie made it through at this venue in eighth and joint ninth positions respectively.
Of the two players who will represent Ireland in the Omega Mission Hills World Cup in China in two weeks, Michael Hoey shot a 76 and Gareth Maybin shot a 73 to finish in 73rd and 32nd place respectively at Costa Ballena and Arcos Gardens. New Zealand’s Stephen Scahill will also be making the trip to Mission Hills where he will be teaming up with Richard Lee in the Omega Mission Hills World Cup. Scahill shot a 72 at Costa Ballena to finish 24th on 283.
