KEIR McNICOLL'S DAMAGED HAND
FORCES HIM TO ABANDON
TOUR SCHOOL PLANS

Carnoustie's Scottish international team player Keir McNicoll is out of this week's European Tour Qualifying School Stage 2 events in Spain.
The left hand he damaged on the first morning of the Men's Home Internationals at Co Louth in September is still giving him pain and he has had to abandon plans - for this year - of making it through to the Final Tour School and, hopefully, a successful career as a tour pro.
"I am absolutely gutted. Although, in the back of mind this was what I was expecting all along, even after the so called 'good news' two weeks ago, suggesting my hand might be strong enough to play," said Keir.
"Tour school is a major part of the year for every aspiring pro and it's just very disappointing not to be able to see it through to the end after performing well at the previous stage.
"Unfortunately, the injury to my hand was just too severe to fix in the six-week window we had. However, if it wasn't for the support of The Scottish Institute of Sport, I would never have come close to playing next week. They played a key role in trying to repair my hand before the deadline date, so I'd like to thank everyone involved for their support, especially Dr. Brian Walker, Karen Young and Maggie Hendry.
"The infrastructure that has been constructed between the SGU and the SIS is fantastic and will only allow Scottish golf to get stronger as we move into the future."
