BOYHOOD PALS WEEKLEY AND SLOCUM REPRESENT
UNITED STATES IN MISSION HILLS WORLD CUP

Childhood friends Boo Weekley and Heath Slocum will team up to represent the United States in the Omega Mission Hills World Cup at Mission Golf Club, China, from November 22-25.
Weekley comes in as a replacement to the injured Aaron Oberholser and as the seeded player, had the opportunity to select his close friend Slocum as his partner.
Weekley and Slocum have played golf together since grade school in Milton, Florida, a suburb of Pensacola. They were members of the Milton High School golf team and both still live within the area.
Prior to earning their current status on the US PGA Tour, the pair also played on the DP Tour and then the Nationwide Tour at the same time. This will be the first team event they have participated in as professionals.
"This is really a dream come true for me," said Weekley. "I am so excited to play with Heath and represent our country in this world event. I remember the days back in the early 1990s when we were trying as a high school team to just get past the district tournament. That was a big goal. Now to be able to go play in China and represent everybody -- well, we sure have come a long way."
Weekley has enjoyed a successful season on the US PGA Tour. In April, he won the Verizon Heritage for his first Tour victory. Earlier, he lost in a play-off at The Honda Classic for what would be the second of five top ten finishes during his season, including a tie for third at the Viking Classic in September. Weekley also recorded nine top 25 finishes on his way to earning $2.6 million.
Slocum is a two-time winner on the US PGA Tour. He won the 2004 Chrysler Classic of Tucson and the 2005 Southern Farm Bureau Classic. He has five top ten finishes this year, including a tie for second at the PODS Championship, and he has earned more than $2 million, which is a career-best.
The 2007 Omega Mission Hills World Cup will launch a new and exciting era in the history of the event first played in 1953 as the Canada Cup. The event is set to continue through 2018, and most probably beyond, at Mission Hills following the signing of an agreement which brought the prestige watch manufacturer Omega together with the Club which introduced the game of golf to China by first hosting the World Cup in 1995.
