PGA EuroPro Tour championship hitch

HIGH WINDS BLOW EUROPRO TOUR PLAYERS
OFF COURSE AT FAIRMONT ST ANDREWS

Play on Day 1 of the 2007 PartyPoker.net PGA EuroPro Tour Championship was abandoned due to high winds sweeping over the cliff-top Torrance course at Fairmont St Andrews (formerly St Andrews Bay) today.
The opening day of the €100,000 Tour Championship was marred by strong winds which were moving balls on the greens.
None of the 60 players had finished their round before tournament officials called off play for the day.
Players will continue their first rounds from 8am on Thursday, with the second round due to follow immediately following the completion of round one.
"This was an unfortunate way to start the PartyPoker.net Tour Championship," said PGA EuroPro Tour operations manager Dan Nickless.
"The greens are very quick anyway and the high winds made conditions unplayable. We're hopeful that the winds will die down overnight."
