IAIN PYMAN'S 63 SETS UP FIRST VICTORY
CHANCE FOR FIVE YEARS

An outstanding third round of eight under par 62 allowed Englishman Iain Pyman to establish a two-stroke lead at the ECCO Tour Championship and set up the chance for a first victory in five years.
Pyman’s 62 took him to 17 under par 193 for the European Challenge Tour tournament, giving the 34 year old a two-shot advantage over the rampaging Magnus A Carlsson of Sweden, who fired the best round of the championship at the Odense Golf Club in Denmark, a spectacular ten under par 60 to charge into contention on 195.
Carlsson, who won his first Challenge Tour title at the Challenge of Ireland presented by Glasson last month, began the third round some five shots off the lead in a tie for ninth place, but after a quite stunning front nine of seven under par 29, he was fighting for the lead at the top of the leaderboard.
A further four birdies on the back nine took Carlsson into the lead, and not even a dropped shot on the 17th – his only aberration of the day – could take the gloss off of a stunning performance.
François Delamontagne, tied for the lead alongside Pyman at the conclusion of the rain-delayed second round that was concluded on Saturday morning, will join Pyman and Carlsson in the last match of the final round at Odense after a third round of 66 moved him to 14 under par 196 for the week.
England's John Morgan is in fourth place on197 after a 67.
Sweden’s Björn Pettersson added to the low scoring third round with a fine third round 61 to move to sixth on the leaderboard, but Pyman is the man to catch as he eyes the sixth Challenge Tour victory of his career, the last of which, at the BMW Russian Open, came five years ago.
“I played really well from tee to green. It was quite solid,” said Pyman, a five time winner on the Challenge Tour between 1999 and 2002.
“I hit better shots on the front nine but did not hole many putts. But on the back nine I holed some very good putts so it evened itself out. I really enjoy it here in Denmark. The course is very good and in good shape with thick rough around the greens.”
