DAVID McDOWELL WINS N E ALLIANCE
OPENER WITH A 62 AT BRAEMAR

Aberdeen City Council golf development officer David McDowell must have feared the worst when he started the new North-east Golfers’ Alliance season with a double-bogey 6 and was three over par after three holes at Braemar Golf Club today (Wednesday).
But the former King’s Links Golf Centre director of golf staged such a remarkable recovery that he finished up heading a field of 83 with a three-under-par 62.
McDowell, out in three-over-par 35, caught fire with an inward half of six-under-par 27 which is a North-east Alliance record low score for nine holes.
He had an eagle 2 at the 277yd 11th and birdies at the short 13th, 15th, 16th and short 18th.
Runner-up was Adrian Style, a +1 Caledonian player with a 63 (32-31).
