McARTHUR SUFFERS PUTTING COLLAPSE WITH
A 78 IN CHALLENGE OF IRELAND

From Michael Gibbons
Challenge Tour Press Officer

Andrew McArthur struggled to a second round 78 to fall from eight under to two under at the halfway stage of the Challenge of Ireland presented by Glasson.
The Scot suffered a putting collapse that he could not recover from on a blustery day at the Glasson Golf Hotel and Country Club, missing from two feet to bogey the par five second hole before four putting the par four fourth.
“I dug my own grave today,” said McArthur, who now trials Frenchman Michael Lorenzo-Vera by six shots going into the weekend.
“It was difficult enough in those conditions without doing that – it was a day I’ll have to try and forget as quickly as possible and try and get things going again tomorrow.”
Despite his poor second round, McArthur is the only Scot under par at the €150,000 Challenge Tour event, with Scott Henderson on level par after a second consecutive 72.
Joining McArthur and Henderson for the weekend action are Jack Doherty and George Murray – both on one over after respective second rounds of 72 and 74 – as well as Eric Ramsay who carded a 72.
