Allied Surveyors' Scottish men's amateur championship

IT'S KEIR McNICOLL v JOHN GALLAGHER
FOR SCOTTISH TITLE ON SATURDAY

It'S Keir McNicoll v John Gallagher in tomorrow's 36-hole final on Saturday. the climax to the Allied Surveyors Scottish men's amateur championship at Prestwick Golf Club.
After nine holes in the 18-hole semi-finals this afternoon, McNicoll from Carnoustie, the only surviving seed, was four up on Sean McAllister (Craigielaw), conqueror in the morning of the top seed and clubmate Lloyd Saltman.
Young McAllister must have been exhausted after his career-best win over Saltman.
McNicoll went on to win by 5 and 3.
Gallagher (Swanston New) is due to have a hand/wrist operation very soon to solve an injury problem which has ruled him out of so many Order of Merit events this season.
John was four down after nine and still four down after 12 to former champion Allan Thomson from Ayr Belleisle. Then Gallagher mounted one of the most famous comebacks in recent "Scottish" history. He won the 13th, 15th, 17th and 18th to take the semi-final down the first again - and John won there to reach the final for the first time.
