SCOTS GO BACKWARD IN THIRD
ROUND OF EUROPEAN
CHALLENGE TOUR EVENT

Scotland’s Challenge Tour professionals suffered a day of frustration an all-round disappointment at the Oceanico Developments Pro-Am Challenge today.
Despite perfect conditions at the Marriot Worsley Park Hotel and Country Club in Manchester, none of the four Scots to survive the halfway cut could capitalize.
George Murray began the day in fifth place, but a two over par 73 saw him fall down the leaderboard to 21st on 205.
It was much the same for Chris Doak, Jack Doherty and Peter Whiteford after respective third rounds of 74, 71 and 72 and saw them all lose ground on leader Stuart Davis of England, who looks out of reach to the four Scots in the field with a total of 15 under 195.
Rookie Murray's 73 included a double bogey 6 at the third.
Chris Doak, pictured above, who had a 64 in the second round, took 10 shots more today with a double-bogey 6 at the third and a quadruple bogey 7 at the short 11th. Doak is on 207 and sharing 37th place.
Peter Whiteford had a 72 which included a double bogey 6 at the eighth. He is sharing 47th place on 209 with West Linton-based Welshman Gareth Wright who had a 72.
Englishman Stuart Davis shot a 64 for 15-under-par 195 to open up a three-stroke advantage over compatriot Ross McGowan (69 for 198) with long time leader Michael Lorenzo-Vera (France) cooling off from 61 and 66 to a third-round 72 for third place on 299.
