DIV ONE TITLE EVENT IN VIRGINIA

North-east teenagers Jordan Findlay from Fraserburgh and Oldmeldrum’s Lewis Kirton both improved on their opening efforts in the second round of the NCAA Division 1 men’s college golf championship at the Golden Horseshore Golf Club, Williamsburg in Virginia.
Findlay, pictured right, a second-year student at East Tennessee State University, followed up a 75 with a level-par 70 for a 36-hole tally of five-over-par 145 over the 6,803yd, par-70 course. He is in joint 91st place.
Jordan birdied the first, sixth and 17th but dropped shots at the second, fourth and 13th.
Lewis, a first-year student at Louisville University, Kentucky, improved on his first-day 82 with a 74 for 156 and is in 154th place. Lewis, starting at the 10th, had a double bogey 5 at the short second before birdieing the 18th. He had a bad start to his second nine, bogeying he first, third, fourth and fifth before he birdied the sixth.
