RAMSAY HAS 77 IN MEMORIAL
TOURNAMENT AFTER
UNSETTLING START

US amateur champion Richie Ramsay from Aberdeen is learning that playing at tournament professional level – well, at US PGA Tour level, anyway, it’s a different ball game from even the upper echelons of the amateur game.
Richie is lying joint 102nd – last place – after the first round of the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village, Ohio.
He had a five-over-par 77 after an unsettling start of a bogey at the first, a double bogey 6 at the second and a bogey at the fifth … four oveer par after only five holes. He did birdie the sixth but shed another shot at the eighth in reaching the turn in four-over-par 40.
More bogeys at the 10th and 12th, then a birdie at the long 15th, a bogey at the shot 16th and a third birdie of the round at the 17th
Leading the field on 65 are American Sean O’Hair and two Australians, Rod Pampling and Nick O’Hara. Tiger Woods had a 70.
