SUPERSONIC SCOTT'S 395yd DRIVE!
By HUGH HUNTER
Clackmannanshire might be small in some parts of the golfing scene, but in the field of long driving it is out on its own thanks to the efforts of Scott Moffat (Braehead).
In the first Scottish Golf Show of 2006, Scott took the long driving prize, and to prove it was no fluke, he repeated his success recently at Ingliston in the 2007 show.
Scott, who works in the professional's shop at Braehead Golf Club, revealed with considerable modesty that on a golf simulator, the computer registered a massive hit of 395 yards from his drive.
This was enough to win by some 50 yards over the next placed golfer. The mammoth hit drew gasps of admiration from the large audience and no doubt a loud “ouch” from the golf ball. For local golfers, this would be the equivalent of standing on the first tee at Schawpark and driving past the first green, over the track and on to the fifth green. WOW!!
