Renton Laidlaw Update

from Mitchell Platts

Renton underwent a third operation on Saturday – his third in twelve days – to repair a blockage in his bowel. This was successful but he did develop yet another infection so with his temperature high he is being pumped full of antibiotics. It would also appear that he has a drip in every vein (!) but hopefully he will be able to drink, and perhaps eat, something in the next 24 hours, without rejecting it. He is back in the Critical Care Unit but this was essential especially as he was running a temperature and he requires constant monitoring. The consultant, however, believes that there should be no other complications and that considering all that he has been through he is making marvellous progress. The third operation also tested the heart, and the new pacemaker, as it lasted three hours and all is well in that department. Even so Renton has now been in the hospital for two weeks today and naturally as Jennifer says he is in need of being cheered up. The “No Visitors” sign remains strictly in place but cards and messages can be sent to him via: Renton Laidlaw, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Room 10, Granard House 2, Fulham Road, London SW3 6JJ.

Many thanks
Mitchell

PS. Unfortunately Jennifer has flu and therefore she has returned to Sunningdale to rest. She is on antibiotics and at this time is obviously not allowed in the Critical Care Unit.
