PGA EUROPRO TOUR


PAUL DOHERTY TOP SCOT IN FIFTH PLACE

Former Scottish boys’ match-play champion Paul Doherty (pictured right) had one of his best finishes since he turned pro when he came fifth in this week’s PGA EuroPro Tour event at Hollins Hall, West Yorkshire.
South Wales-based Paul had rounds of 67, 69 and 70 for a seven-under-par total of 206. That earned him £1,400.
Graham Rankin and Jamie McLearly each collected £950 for sharing sixth place on 207. Rankin shot three 69s while McLeary had 70, 68 and 69.
Euan Little finished 11th on 208 to win £700 with scores of 70, 70 and 68.
Stephen Gray had 68, 73 and 71 for 212 and a cheque for £282.
Former Scottish amateur champion Graham Gordon finished disappointingly in a tie for 37th place after scores of 71, 70 and 73 (36-37)for 214. He won £255.
Kevin Harper from East Devon won the event with an eagle and two birdies over the last five holes for an 11-under-par total of 202 (69-67-66) to win the £10,000 first prize by one shot from compatriot Warren Bennett.
