FIVE SCOTS BEAT T HE CUT
Five Scots made the 36-hole cut in the £40,000 Towergaate Insurance Championship - the latest event on the PGA EuroPro Tour - at Maylands Golf Club.
South of Wales-based Jack Doherty was the best placed with a 68 and 70 for 138 and a share of 25th place among the qualifiers for Friday's final round.
Eric Ramsay from Carnoustie shot 68 and 71 for 139 (jt 32nd place).
Aberdonian Graham Gordon is beginning to get some consistency into his scores. He has made a string of cuts in a row, this time with a pair of 70s for a share of 38th place on 140.
On the same mark were Graeme Brown from Montrose with 72 and 68 as well as former Scottish boys' match-play champion Paul Doherty from Vale of Glamorgan with 71 and 69.
Scots who did not score 141 or under and were eliminated were:
142 G Guthrie 71 71.
143 R Cameron 69 74.
146 C Mitchell 71 75.
Ben Welch and Phil Rowe shared a one-shot lead at 10-under-par 132 at the end of the second day in the chase for the £10,000 first prize.
Rowe has yet to drop a shot over 36 holes with a pair of 66s while Welch was one of two players to return a second-round 64.
