SCOTS IN BIARRITZ CUP

CALLUM IN TOP 20, DUNCAN SHOOTS
66 TO IMPROVE INTO 35th PLACE

Callum Macaulay (Tulliallan) and Duncan Stewart (Grantown on Spey) were lying 19th and 35th respectively after the third round of the Biarritz Cup international open amateur golf tournament in southwest France today.
Macaulay started the third day in eighth place after scores of 70 and 65 but a 70 for two-under-par 205 dropped him to 19th.
Duncan Stewart, the first Scottish winner of the Chiberta Grand Prix last weekend since Graham Fox in 1998, just made the halfway cut in the Biarritz Cup with scores of 71 and 73 for 144 but the Highlander found his form again with a third-round 66 to shoot up from 67th place at the start of the day to 35th on 210.
Spaniard Pedro Oriol Sanchez-Blanco leads the field by two shots with an 11-under-par tally of 196. His scores have been 64, 65 and 67.
Compatriot Jorge Campillo and Frenchman Adrien Bernadet are sharing second place on 198. Campillo has shot 67, 68 and 763, while Bernadet has scored 62, 70 and 66.
The tournament ends Sunday.
