BUCHAN FIRKIN REPORT

GARY ESSON WINS BY TWO AT FRASERBURGH

Portlethen’s Gary Esson won the Fraserburgh 36-hole men’s tournament – open to amateurs and professionals – for the Buchan Firkin on Saturday.
Esson had rounds of 69 and 71 for a level par total of 140, two shots ahead of last year’s winner and course record holder, Kris Nicol (Fraserburgh).
Neil Mitchell, formerly of Murcar Links, was the best placed professional in joint ninth place on 146.
