Dalmahoy sign rising Scottish golf star Rory Smith

2^nd April 2019. Dalmahoy Hotel and Country Club, on the outskirts of Edinburgh, has signed up-and-coming Edinburgh golf professional Rory Smith as its new ambassador, fresh on the heels of signing Jane Turner, Ladies European Tour campaigner, last month.

 Rory Smith, 23 from Kirknewton in Edinburgh, is a professional golfer looking to break through the ranks and achieve his goal of playing on the European and PGA tours.  He’s been a member at Dalmahoy since the age of seven, representing the club at both junior and gents level, winning the club championship for the past four consecutive years, holding the course record of 65 8 under par.

“While representing Dalmahoy at amateur level, I have managed to compete against the best golfers in the country, and the impeccable golfing facilities there have helped me hone my game over the years”, said Smith, who won the Lothians Champion of Champions event in 2018. 

Smith, who will compete in the PGA EuroPro Tour Q School tournament this week, added: “I’m proud to now be representing Dalmahoy at professional level, and I hope the partnership will help take me to the next level and achieve my PGA and European Tour dreams.”

As one of Scotland’s leading golf resorts, Dalmahoy was host to Scotland’s first ever Solheim Cup in 1992, and is proud to shine a light on Scottish golf ahead of the golf tournament returning to Scotland later this year.

As proud advocates of Scottish golf, we’re keen to do what we can to help take one of our own to the next level.”

Smith added: “With two brilliant golf courses, as well as excellent practice facilities, my long and short game training are both covered at Dalmahoy. I can also cover off my fitness routine when I’m there as the hotel Leisure Club has a state-of-the-art new Lifefitness gym.”
