Irishman Rafferty takes five-stroke lead into final day of R and A Foundation Scholars' tournament

Irishman Caolan Rafferty from Dundalk jumped into a five-stroke lead over the first 36 holes of the R and A Foundation Scholars tournament for male students, played over the Eden Course at St Andrews.
The final round will be played over the Old Course on Tuesday morning.
Rafferty posted excellent rounds of 68 and 67 for a five-under-par tally of 135.
The winner of the 54-hole men's event will automatically get a place in the international team for the Palmer Cup match against an American students' select at the Evian Resort in France.
Next best overnight is Peter Kerr (Royal Portrush) (71-69 for 140) with three players sharing third place on 141 - Cameron Wallace (Seaton Carew) (72-69), Alan Fahy (Dun Laughaire) (71-70) and Aled Greville (Ashburnham) (74-67).
Leading Scot at the end of the opening day was Alistair McNaughton (Caldwell), joint eighth on 143 (73-70).
