Playing captain Matthew Clark (Kilmacolm Golf Club) is set to make his seventh straight Men’s Home Internationals appearance for Scotland at Conwy, North Wales, in next week’s tournament against England, Wales and Ireland from September 12-14.
Clark, who made his debut in 2012, the last time Scotland won at Glasgow Gailes, is keen for a strong showing as he looks to end Ireland’s recent run of form which has seen them win the Raymond Trophy the last four years in a row.
Clark said: “We have an exciting team this year with a great deal of hunger to improve upon the last couple of years outings.
“The guys have bonded well since learning of their selection and as a captain and leadership group I feel we are better prepared at this point than we have been in the past.
“It’s an honour to captain our boys again and whilst the opposition is strong I expect a strong showing.”
Five players will make their Scotland debut, including, Jim Johnston, James Wilson, former Cruden Bay member Stephen Roger, Kieran Cantley and Jeff Wright from Forres, while Stuart Easton will take his Home Internationals bow after representing Scotland at this year’s European Team Championships.
Ryan Lumsden and Euan Walker, who are representing Scotland at this week’s World Amateur Team Championships in Ireland, will join Cawder’s Calum Fyfe and Scottish men’s amateur champion Euan McIntosh in completing the line-up.
