ROYAL ABERDEEN'S LIAM WALDRON ONLY N E PLAYER IN LOSSIE LAST FOUR

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Aidan O'Hagan (Old Ranfurly), top seed, and comfortable winner of his earlier ties, was brought down to earth with a bump in the quartrer-finals of the Xact Scottish Under-18 boys golf
championship at Moray Golf Club, Lossiemouth today (Thursday).
That he was beaten, by Conor Wilson from the Haddington course, Castle Park, was a surprise but the margin of his defeat, 6 and 5, was an even bigger surprise.
Aidan made a slow start and was five down after only eight holes. Wilson went six up after 12 and finished a surprisingly easy winner.
In the semi-finals, Wilson will play Jack Broun  from Ayr Bellisle Golf Club. Broun was a 6 and 4 winner against David Walsh (Lochgelly), conqueror of Calum Daun (Nairn) by one hole in the morning.
The other semi-final will feature Royal Aberdeen's in-form player, Liam Waldron, and Australia-based Scot, Joshua Greer who was beaten in last year's final.
Waldron beat Andrew Thornton (Muckhart) by one hole after being two up on the 11th tee but all square after 16 holes.
Greer earned his place in the last four with a one-hole win over Callum Leeson (Pitreavie) who squeezed past the highly-rated Calum Scott (Nairn) in the third round. Greer had won by 3 and 2 in the morning against Lewis Irvine (Kirkhill) who was beaten finalist at Murcar Links in 2016.
If anyone is going to put a spoke in the wheel of Hannah Darling's bid for the Scottish U18 girls' title it could be her semi-final opponent on Friday morning, Germany-based Cameron Neilson.

While Broomieknowe's Darling was winning by 4 and 3 over Jennifer Rankine (Haggs Castle), Neilson was powering her way to an impressive 6 and 4 victory over Lorna McClymont (Milngavie).
The other girls' semi-final is between Kirsty Brodie (Strathmore), a 3 and 2 winner against Grace Crawford (Gullane), and Louise Duncan (West Kilbride), a 4 and 2 winner over Rachel Foster (Prestwick St Nicholas).
The girls' handicap final will be contested by Romy Erskine (Kilmacolm) and Nairn Dunbar's Iona Reid. Erskine was a one-hole winner against Katrina Tan (Nairn) in the semi-finals. Reid beat Kirsten Miller (Strathmore) by 4 and 3 to reach the final
