Kirsten finishes six shots clear in qualifier for
English women's open match-play tournament
Last year's winner, Cara Gainer, failed to make the top 16 qualifiers after the 36-hole stroke-play eliminator and therefore has not earned a chance to retain the English women's open match-play title at Kirby Muxloe.
Cara had rounds of 76 and 77 for 153.
Top seed is Kirsten Rudgeley (Wanneroo) with 73 and 67 for 140 - six shots ahead of three players sharing second place on 146: Emily Brennan (Trentham) 75 71, Nicola Slater (Lindrick) 74 72, and Megan Dennis (Woburn) 73 73.
Nicola Slater won the Bridget Jackson Bowl 36-hole tournament at Handsworth last week.
