Newmachar members 1-2 in Buchan Firkin

Andrew Hepburn, a former Fraserburgh Golf Club member now playing out of Newmachar, won the Buchan Firkin 36-hole open tournament at Fraserburgh on Saturday.

He had scores of 71 and 67 for a total of two-under-par 138 and won by two strokes from clubmate Chris Lamb who shot 69-71 for 140.

John Ross (Fraserburgh) finished third in the scratch section with scores of 73 and 70 for 143

The handicap section was won by Derek Bond junior, who plays off four. He  had net scores of 65 and 69 for 134 to win the Town Council Trophy by one shot from 10-handicapper Alexander Mitchell.
This performance capped a great week for Bond who won the Fraserburgh Golf Club championship earlier.
