Six birdies in a row push Chris Curran into halfway lead at Scottish Young Pros' Championship

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Bathgate's Chris Curran, pictured, shot six consecutive birdies, from the third to the eighth, in a second-round, four-under-par 67 which lifted him a stroke clear of the field at the halfway stage of the Scottish Young Professionals Championship at West Lothian Golf Club today.
Curran's 36-hole tally of six-under 136 still has Myles Cunningham (Gullane) (67-70) and Sam Binning (Mearns Castle) (71-67) snapping at his heels and Tom Higson (Gleneagles) (67-71), Zack Saltman (Winterfield) (68-70) and Graeme McDouall (Elie Links (70-68) are by no means out of it on 138.
Banchory assistant Andrew Pillans, co-first-round leader with a 67, slipped back to a 74 for 141 and is joint ninth. He started badly - bogey at first, double bogey at the second - and finished badly with bogeys at the 14th, 16th and 18th
