England name squads for European team championships
ENGLAND GOLF NEWS RELEASE
The four England sides which will seek European team championship glory next month have been announced.
They include the six players who will target a third consecutive gold medal in the women’s championship.

Four of them were in last year’s victorious team: Lianna Bailey, India Clyburn, Sophie Lamb and Alice Hewson, who is going for a personal hat trick, having also helped win gold for England in 2016.

They will be joined by the impressive 16-year-olds, Annabell Fuller and Lily-May Humphreys, who played in the recent Curtis Cup match alongside Clyburn, Hewson and Lamb.

The England men’s team will also be gunning for gold after last year’s narrow defeat in the final, when they had to settle for silver.

Their line-up features England order of merit leader Mitch Waite, who was a semi-finalist in last week’s Amateur Championship. Four of the other players have scored individual wins this season: Nick Poppleton at the Brabazon Trophy, Matthew Jordan at the Lytham Trophy, Todd Clements at the European Nations Cup and Gian Marco Petrozzi in Australia. David Hague was a 2017 winner at the North of England amateur.

The girls’ team includes Amelia Williamson, who will be playing in her third European championship and last year helped England win bronze. She’s joined by Ebonie Lewis, Martha Lewis, Mimi Rhodes, Hannah Screen and Caitlin Whitehead.

The boys’ team includes Conor Gough, who recently won at the Fairhaven Trophies, alongside Barclay Brown, Harry Goddard, Max Hopkins, Joe Pagdin and Robin Williams.

All four championships will be played from 10-14 July 2018.
