Steven and McKenna head Cawder qualifiers for PGA Four-ball Championship

James Steven (Pumpherston) and Fraser McKenna (Caldwell)  headed the four qualifying pairs at windswept Cawder Golf Club today in the eliminating event for the PGA Four-ball Championship at Belton Woods, Grantham from August 29-31.
Steven and McKenna shot a one-under 69 which included an eagle 3 at the 11th and birdies at the fourth and 17th, offset by bogeys at the fifth, 14th and 15th in halves of 35 and 34.
They finished three strokes clear of the Musselburgh duo of Norman Huguet and Cameron Marr who could do no better than a triple bogey 8 at the seventh although they did birdie the first, fifth and 11th and had bogeys at the 15th and 18th.
The other qualifiers, both pairs finishing on the 76 mark, were Jonathan Porteous (Craigielaw) and Paul Malone (Braid Hills), and Gavin Still (Turriff) and James Calam (Duff House Royal).
