Impromptu speech by Gary Player made it a Carnoustie day to remember for juniors
FROM KEIR McNICOLL
We held an event yesterday on the Championship Course, Carnoustie to give Juniors at each club in Angus, with a PGA Professional, a chance to play prior to the Open.
The course is in magnificent condition and with grandstands and leaderboards surrounding every tee, fairway and green, it was hopefully an experience every junior will never forget.
Three Juniors and PGA Professional were invited to play in a handicap team Stableford competition. Ballumbie Castle, led by Stuart Milne, were the winners of the event with 48pts. In second place were the Carnoustie Links team with 47pts. In total, 10 teams competed, in what was a fantastic night and celebration of golf.

The evening was capped off with dinner in the amazing new Rookery restaurant and also an impromptu speech from former Open champion Gary Player, pictured left, who was in the restaurant for a corporate commitment with Rolex!
