BOB STEWART WINS SUPER SENIORS'
COUNTBACK AT STIRLING
Bob Stewart (Tulliallan) came out on top via countback at the head of a field of 43 players in the two-round Super Seniors competition at Stirling Golf Club.
Thursday's heat took a lot out of the members. Today (Friday) was a bit cooler, and the scores reflected the easier conditions. The course was in excellent condition throughout.
At the end of the two-day competition, five players shared top slot on 151 - Bob Stewart (Tulliallan), Gordon MacDonald (Glenbervie), Wilson Morton (Dunbar), Alasdair Fiddes (Murcar Links) and David Smith (Stirling).
Stewart emerged top of the pile as a result of a better second round of 73.
Winner of the handicap event with an aggregate total of 137 was local member Alex Hogg (Stirling), playing off 12. In second place on 139 was David Smith Stirling) (6). with Bruce Hunter (Stirling) (10) and Brian Halbert (Callander) (6) 3rd equal on 140.
Par for the course was 72 with an SSS of 69. CSS on Thursday was 72 (R/O) and Friday 69.
