Michele Thomson (Meldrum House) shot a two-under-par 70 to be in third place after the first round of the Qantas Golf Coast Challenge women's professional tournament at Links Hope Island, Queensland, Australia. She is two strokes behind the Australian leader Breanna Gill.
England's Felicity Johnson is joint ninth on 73 and compatriots Charlotte Thompson (78) and Sarah-Jane Boye (79) are joint 31st and 37th in a field of 54 players.
