Michael Brodie's solid start at Kinderlou Forest

Michael Brodie from Perthshire, a third-year student at Lander University, Greenwood, South Carolina, was sharing 13th place in a field of 93 players at the end of the first round of the Southeastern Collegiate tournament at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club, Valdosta, Georgia.

Brodie, pictured, had a two-under-par 70 over a long course of 7,363yd. He is six shots behind the leader by two, Chandler Blanchet (West Florida).
Lander University has only one American on his men's golf roster of nine players of whom five are British - James Bartlett from Brockenhurst, Chris Kendall from Cumbria, Conor Richards from Hampshire and Cameron Bell from Surrey as well as Brodie, of course.
Lander (279) are lying second to West Florida (277) with Rollins College third on 282 in a field of 13 teams.
