Spanish semi-finalist Eugenio Lopez-Chacarra barely had any chance of reaching the final, being outplayed by the in-form Billy McKenzie, whose progress in the tournament has been surprising: he was the last of the match-play qualifiers - and from there he has been responsible for removing some of the main candidates from the tournament. In his semi-final he has imposed himself by a clear 5/4 against Lopez-Chacarra
In the other semi-final, Alex Fitzpatrick beat compatriot Robin Williams at the 19th.
In the quarter-finals, Fitzpatrick beat No 2 seed Angel Hidalgo from Spain at the 19th, McKenzie got through at the 20th against Jiri Zuska, Lopez-Chacarra beat Mata 4 and 3 and Williams beat Lopes 5 and 4.
