Sam Locke finishes joint fifth in South African stroke-play

Scottish amateur champion Sam Locke from Stonehaven finished joint fifth in the South African men's amateur golf championship at Pecanwood Golf and Country Club - despite making fewer  mistakes than the winner, South African Oliver Gillberg.
Over the 72 holes, Locke had only only bogey - at the seventh hole in Round 2 - in returning scores of 69, 68, 65 and 68 for a total of 18-under-par 270. 
He finished nine shots behind Gillberg whose rounds of 67, 62, 64 and 68 for 27-under 261 included one double bogey and three bogeys. 
It was a South African 1-2-3 finish with Gillbergwinning by one shot from Matt Saulez and by two from third-placed Wilco Nienaber.
Cawder's Calum Fyfe just made the top 20 with rounds of 67, 67, 71 and 70 for 13-under 275 and a T19 finish.
Darren Howie from Peebles scored 69, 69, 70 and 69 for 277 and a T26 final placing.
