Stewart and Drysdale in the European Masters mix with five-under 65s

Miguel Angel Jiménez once again belied his age in the company of many of the brightest young stars of the European Tour as the 53 year old moved into a share of the first-round lead at the Omega European Masters, joined at the top by Englishman Tyrrell Hatton and Scott Hend of Australia.

The Spaniard is playing at the spectacular Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club for the 28^th time and boasts an incredible record at the Alpine venue, winning once in 2010 and claiming two runner-up finishes as well as eight further top tens.

He put that experience to great use on day one in Switzerland as the 21 time European Tour winner carded seven birdies and a bogey on the way to a six under 64.

He was joined at the top by World No. 30 Hatton, who signalled a return to form on a course upon which he has also performed well, holing his approach at the par four 12^th en route to his lowest round of the season.

New Zealand’s Ryan Fox, Australian Todd Sinnott, Thongchai Jaidee of Thailand, South African Darren Fichardt and Scots David Drysdale and Duncan Stewart were all a shot further back on five under par 65.
