"AUSSIE" GREER BEATS BANFF BOY, PLAYS DALZIEL IN SCOTTISH FINAL

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Gourock-born Josh Greer, home on holiday from Perth, Western Australia where he moved with his family five years ago, will play Greg Dalziel (Airdrie) in Wednesday's 18-hole final of the Scottish U18 boys' amateur championship final at Scotscraig Golf Club, Fife.
Greer, a +2 player, beat Scotland boys cap Callum Bruce (Duff House Royal) by 2 and 1 in this afternoon (Tuesday) semi-finals.
Greer won at the 20th in the morning quarter-finals and so too did Dalziel who beat Dean Walsh (Lochgelly) by one hole in the other semi-final.
Bruce was always behind after losing the second to a birdie 3. The Banff teenager was three down at turn fought back with winning pars at the 11th and 13th to be only one down.
Greer went two up again by birdieing the fourth. Bruce won the 16th with his only birdie of the round but Greer won the match with his fourth birdie at the 17th.
Greer was level par at the first, and Bruce two over par.
Play in the other semi-final was not of the same standard. Dalziel was roughly four or five over par in beating Walsh who won the first two holes but had been pulled back to all square by the turn. There was little between the players on the inward half until Dalziel won the 18th and the match with a bogey to Walsh's double bogey.
