Imrie sets pace with a par 71 in East of

Scotland seniors' tournament at Edzell

By ALASDAIR MACGREGOR
David Imrie, a member at Fife's Lundin Golf Club, led the huge field of 139 players at Edzell GC with a par-matching 71 (37-34) at the halfway stage of the 36-hole East of Scotland senior amateurs' tournament.
In breezy conditions, Imrie birdied the first, 10th and 15th but cancelled out these gains with bogeys at the second, seventh and 17th.
In joint second place on 72 are Philip Hendry (Alloa) (38-34) and Jim McArthur (St Andrews New) (37-35).
They are followed by four players on 73 - 2016 Order
of Merit winner Graham Bell (Downfield), 2015 Order of Merit winner Ronnie Clark (Erskine) and local players Keith Bruce and Jim Watt.
Three players share the lead for the Bronze medal which is awarded for the best net total. Philip Hendry (Alloa) (2), Jim Watt (Edzell) (3) and Ian Stewart (Glenbervie) (5) all had net 70s.

Nick Robson (Meldrum House), one of the pre-tournament favourites, struggled to the turn in 38 shots but a hat-trick of birdies from the 13th to the 15th helped him salvage a 74.
The second and final round will be played tomorrow.
