Paul Lawrie Foundation Aberdeen schools trophy winners at Craibstone

Strath pips Waldron for the scratch title






The Paul Lawrie Foundation Aberdeen schools’ stroke-play competition was played at Craibstone golf course on Thursday, involving over 30 pupils from schools across the city. 
Liam Strath (Aberdeen Grammar School) won the scratch title on  countback.
 He and Liam Waldron from Bucksburn Academy both  finished with grss 71s but Strath won the countback with an inward half of 33 to Waldron's 37. The winner of the Handicap in Section 1 (0-12) was Michael Black (handicap 11) from Robert Gordon’s College, who finished tied with Scott Mathieson  (handicap 12) of Hazlehead, both finishing with nett 66.
Mchael won this section by the narrowest of margins, a  better inward half of 31.5 to his rival's 32


Winner of Section 2 (13-24)  was Matthew Riddell from Albyn, who finished with a nett 60 off 21 of a handicap. Second in this section was Murray Gauld from Hazlehead Academy with a nett 63  off 20.


Winner of the girls’ section was Hazlehead Academy pupil Rachel Mathieson who finished with a nett 75 off  13. Jennifer Buchanan from Robert Gordon’s College was runner-up 77 off 11.
CSS: Boys 67. Girls 72.
