I have enjoyed the recent articles regarding various Scotland v England Youth Internationals. I currently act as archivist at Haggs Castle GC.
I am sending a copy of a photograph of the Scottish Youth Team that played England in the Youth International of 1969 at Lindrick GC of which team our own, Brian Pearson who has sadly died, was a member. Unfortunately I don't have any details of the results of the various games played during the match.
I have noted the names of the various people and as you will see there are three future Scottish Amateur Champions, including the current Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews (not sure whether Keith Macintoshcould supply details of the various games?).
David Greig (Montrose, 1975), Allan Brodie (Royal Troon 1977) and Keith Macintosh (1979, Prestwick) all went on to win the Scottish Amateur Championship.
There are also four team members who went on to be well respected professionals - Alistair P Thomson, Billy Lockie, John McTear and George McKay.
I also have a feeling that Royal Aberdeen's John Johnston, picture below by courtesy of Steve Ellis, may have been the first person to be capped by Scotland at Boys, Youths, Full and Senior levels.
David Donaldson was recently Captain at the Glasgow Golf Club.
