Wallace Booth wins Penina Classic play-off

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Wallace Booth's decision to sell shares in his golfing activities has paid an early dividend for his investors.
The Comrie man, pictured, won the Penina Classic II on the Algarve at the weekend at the third hole of a sudden-death play-off against former Irish amateur champion and graduate of Stirling University, Cormac Sharvin.
They had tied on seven-under-par 137 over the Penina designed by the late Sir Henry Cotton. Both players shot 69 and 68 in the first and second rounds.
Booth earned 2,000 euros (£1,700), Sharvin 1,300 euros

Said Wallace: "I played very solidly and birdied the last two holes to force a play-off.

"In the playoff, I holed an 8 footer for par to stay in it on the first extra, but missed a good birdie chance to win  on the second extra. Then holed from the fringe (about 30 feet) for birdie on the third extra hole which turned out to be good enough. "
