CAMERON MAKES ANOTHER GOOD START IN EGYPT

By COLIN FARQUHARSON
Peterhead's Ross Cameron is in joint fourth position after a first-round, five-under-par 67 in the 54-hole Red Sea Ain Sokhna Classic at Sokhna Golf Club, near Egypt.
Cameron was challenging for victory at this venue last week until a disappointing final round robbed him of a top five finish.
Today (Monday), the Saltire Energy-sponsored player had an eagle 3 at the third and birdies at the second, seventh, eighth, 11t6h and 16th in halves of 33 and 34.
Other Scots in the top 20 behind English pacemaker Ben Parker with a 65 are the Paul Lawrie Golf Centre pair, Sam Kiloh and David Law, joint 15th on 69.
Kiloh had an eagle 3 at the par-5 17th and four birdies but a double bogey 6 at the ninth dragged him down out of the leading 10.
Law had five bogeys and two late birdies, at the 15th and 17th.
PLGC team-mate Kevin Duncan also finished well, birdieing the 17th and 18th, to salvage a 71 and a share of 28th place.
Banchory's Chris Robb (Meldrum House) and PLGC player Philip McLean from Peterhead are joint 44th on 72 while Alexander Culverwell had to birdie the 16th, 17th and 18th to escape with a 76 and a share of 75th place.
